Pineapple guava is a small tree or large evergreen hedge, growing to 15 feet tall and 6 to 8 feet wide. The foliage is dusty green above and silvery white below, excellent for hot, dry areas and as large hedges. The flowers produced in the spring are edible, so wonderfully so that often there is little fruit left after flower munching. The flowers are fleshy, with the flavor of ripe pineapple and a hint of floral. The fruit is produced in mid to late fall, a light green on the outside, white on the inside, and a flavor suggesting a combination of pineapple and guava or strawberry, perhaps with a hint of mint. The fruit is heavily scented of perfume.

 

Once established, the tree could exist with very little supplemental watering, however for the best fruiting it should be deep watered at least once a month and mulched to protect the roots. Pineapple Guava is self fertile, however plant two for the best pollination. USDA Zone 8
